Apologies Malcolm
Chair's Report - Stuart Miller Thanks to all for coming. This is just a short meeting. Most things we wanted to do for the site have been done now really. There are a couple of items still to do. It's up to you to tell us what you want.
1. New Green Dump Area We hope to make a new green area on the two plots next to Stephen, which flooded this winter. We need to know that they are vacant first. We will make a solid platform and use a JCB.
2. Toilet Refurbish We will sort the toilets out at some stage. (comment from a plotter, Please pull the chain!)
3. Working Party We are working in the woods after this meeting, everyone is welcome to help, and Helena has trees to plant.
4. Unworked Plots (Question from a plotter, What's happening with the plots which have not been worked?) We are sorting it with the council. We have to issue two letters to the plot holders who are not attending. The letters have gone out.
5. Existing Green Dump Area The green dump area is still flooded with water. We will lay some of the wood chippings down to try and soak the water up. Hopefully people have wellies.
6. Skip When the skip is full there will be another one. (Comment from a plotter, a lorry came and put items into our skip!) (Comment from a plotter, there is a T.V. in there!)
7. Security The padlock will be changed to a coded lock. The problem is there are many allotment keys which have not been returned when people leave. There will be a message sent out to everyone with the code . We won't be changing the lock for a few weeks to make sure everyone knows the code. Please keep your keys in case of any problems. Some concerns were raised with possible security problems due to the change from keys, people gaining access by chance, people being told the code. The answers given were that people can get keys cut and give them out so nothing will actually be different regarding security. It was suggested that we have security cameras put up . The answer given was that we don't have any power. (Comment from a plotter, we were broken into a few weeks ago. Some old coats went that was all. The answer given was that the council took down some trees and cut back some of the hedging, (exposing our front gate and making people aware that we are here , much better to be overgrown and hidden). After this we were broken into. Wire cutters were found at the front near the gate.
8. Flooding Plot 49 is overgrown and has a flooding issue. We are going to make the front of the area into a couple of green waste bays and the back of the area a plot for Tim. We will maybe dig a foot down and fill with gravel to help with the flooding problem.
9. Woodchip More woodchip is to come, we are just waiting for a delivery.
Thanks to everyone for coming. If anyone can help with the working party that would be appreciated
Please see Work Parties page for more information.
